Introducing The Newman Holiday Trust
The True Travel Foundation is proud to announce its latest partnership, supporting The Newman Holiday Trust, a UK based charity that supports children aged 4 – 17 across the UK.
Established in 1981, the Newman Holiday Trust began by running a week-long holiday in the summer for children with additional needs. The Trust now provides holidays for over 150 children every year.
The charity works in seven different locations around the UK.
Due to the high level of skilled care they require and their financial circumstances, the children selected for these holidays would not otherwise receive a break, and their parents/carers would not benefit from a week of respite.
On partnering with True Travel, Marie-Therese Chitnis, Volunteer and Holiday Organiser at The Newman Holiday Trust comments:
“I have volunteered with the Newman Trust for over 10 years and can honestly say, it’s the best week of my year, every year. The Trust exists on a 1:1 policy meaning all carers on the week care for a child 24/7. We welcome volunteers from a range of backgrounds all bringing something different to the holiday but with a shared desire to provide these children with a safe environment to be completely themselves. This is only a taste of what the parents and carers do every day, but I can honestly say the privilege is all ours. We are completely volunteer led and donation funded meaning every penny goes towards the children, but with rising costs, the challenges of running these holidays have only increased in recent years. This is why having True Travel’s support is invaluable! Being a small charity with limited reach, we rely on word of mouth to recruit helpers, children and raise money. With True Travel’s presence providing holidays globally, we can work together to continue to provide holidays locally for these children. It’s been amazing to see the Trust grow over the past 40 years and continue to change the lives of both the children and the helpers. It makes me very proud to be a part of something so special and I look forward to welcoming True Travel’s partners along to our holiday in Oxford to see for themselves where their donations go.”
With the True Travel Foundation most recently bringing on board the Sol Y Luna foundation to compliment its Latin America offering, the new support of The Newman Holiday Trust rounds off a series of partnerships that now covers Europe, Asia and Africa.
2025 is set to be the biggest year in the Foundation’s history in terms of funding, and we are excited to welcome our new partners in both The Newman Holiday Trust and the Sol Y Luna Foundation as things go from strength to strength.
